Often, people think pre ejaculation is a disease that cannot be fixed. This misconception leads to a depressed and frustrating life. Men with premature ejaculation problems feel embarrassed about their sexual relationship with their partner, and they often hesitate to initiate intimate relations. Therefore, they need to understand its causes and find relief for the problem with available treatments.

What is Premature Ejaculation?

Pre ejaculation (PE) is a type of sexual dysfunction resulting in ejaculation earlier than desired, such that it happens before or shortly after penetration during intercourse. It can be a really frustrating experience for you and your partner. This problem is a common sexual complaint in males, as 1 out of 3 males say they face this issue. However, there is no set time when premature ejaculation happens, but it is diagnosed if it occurs within 1 to 3 minutes of penetration. Furthermore, a person tries to hold their ejaculation for some time, but they fail in delaying ejaculation during sex or foreplay. This leads to an unsatisfied ending, due to which they often tend to avoid sexual intimacy and stay distressed.

What Are the Symptoms of Premature Ejaculation?

The primary symptom of premature ejaculation is not being able to delay ejaculation for more than 3 minutes. Instant climax during masturbation may also be its symptom. The pre ejaculation symptoms are categorised into two categories, but these are not the criteria for diagnosis:

Lifelong PE – It is a primary type of issue that a person has faced since their first sexual experience. Lifelong PE occurs all the time from the beginning of the first sexual encounter.

Acquired PE – It is not often seen, but it means that a person had a more extended sexual experience before but has recently developed PE symptoms.

What Causes Premature Ejaculation?

The pre ejaculation in men may happen due to psychological and biological issues. Some other factors can be genetic causes or other health problems like abnormal hormone levels.  Here are some common pre ejaculation causes that you must know:

Psychological Causes

Some of the psychological factors that contribute to pre ejaculation causes are as follows:

  • Past sexual experiences
  • The feeling of guilt that enables you to rush through sex
  • Poor self-esteem
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • History of any sexual abuse
  • Worrying about ejaculating too early
  • Stress

Biological Causes

The following are some biological factors that cause PE:

  • Extra sensitive penile skin
  • Abnormal hormones, including oxytocin levels
  • Low dopamine or serotonin levels (causes sexual desire and excitement)
  • An inflamed prostate or urethra

Treatment To Cure Premature Ejaculation?

In some cases, your doctor may advise you to masturbate an hour or so before intercourse. This helps in delaying ejaculation with your partner during intercourse. You can also try to avoid direct intercourse and indulge in foreplay with your partner to delay the process. This helps you relieve the pressure of performing during intercourse.

Behavioural Modification Therapy

Behavioural therapy involves different practical methods to delay your ejaculation. Here are some behavioural pre ejaculation methods that you can check:

Start and Stop:

Stimulate your penis nearly close to the point of orgasm, then stop the stimulation for about 30 seconds until you regain the control of your feelings. Repeat this “start and stop” approach three or four times to gain good control over your responses.

Squeeze Therapy:

In this method, stimulate your penis close to the point of orgasm and then gently squeeze the head of the penis for about 30 seconds so that you start to lose the erection and then regain the stimulating flow once done. Repeat this method to delay your ejaculation.

Distracted thinking:

With this method, you must focus on non-sexual things. Try out a naming sequence or start counting numbers to focus your attention on something else.

Counselling

Counselling is another best treatment for pre ejaculation in men. If the pre ejaculation causes are psychological, emotional or biological, you can seek help from a psychologist, psychiatrist, or sex therapist.

Medications

Seek help from your doctor for medication. However, antidepressants are the first-line medication to delay PE. You may use anaesthetic creams or spray on the head of the penis if suggested by your doctor. It causes your penis to be less sensitive, delaying PE.

Healthy Diet To Cure Premature Ejaculation

By incorporating the right food into your diet, you can combat premature ejaculation problems and perform in bed satisfactorily. Here is the list of foods to cure premature ejaculation:

  1. Dark chocolate
  2. Bananas
  3. Spinach
  4. Avocados
  5. Ashwagandha
  6. Ginger and honey
  7. Asparagus
  8. Green onion
  9. Pumpkin seeds
  10. Walnuts and almonds

Conclusion

Pre ejaculation is often uncomfortable to talk about, but you must open up to such issues and seek help from doctors. About 95 out of 100 men recover from PE by following the above-listed treatment methods. You can also include foods to cure premature ejaculation in your diet to get enough nutrition.
